Prof. Dr. Roxana Bumbăcea is a distinguished specialist in Allergy and Clinical Immunology, with a career dedicated to both the academic and clinical aspects of the field. She graduated from „Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy and holds a PhD in Medical Sciences, specializing in Dermatology. Since 2023, she has been coordinating PhD programs, contributing to the development of future specialists in her field.
Currently, Prof. Dr. Bumbăcea is a full professor and the head of the Allergy Department at „Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. She is an active figure in several international allergy organizations, including her role as a representative of the Romanian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (SRAIC) at the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and the World Allergy Organization (WAO). From 2017 to 2021, she served as the President of SRAIC and currently leads the working groups on Drug Allergy and Biological Therapies.
In her editorial career, Prof. Dr. Bumbăcea was the Editor-in-Chief of the Alergologia journal from 2017 to 2021 and continues to contribute as a peer reviewer for prestigious journals, such as Allergy, Clinical and Translational Allergy, Dermatologic Therapy, Maedica, and Medicina. She has authored more than 60 articles indexed in Web of Science, as well as several book chapters.
Prof. Dr. Bumbăcea’s research interests are centered around drug allergies, skin and respiratory allergies, and allergen-specific immunotherapy. Over the years, she has significantly advanced scientific understanding of these topics. In addition to her academic and research contributions, she has been providing private consultations at Novo Medica Clinic since 2006, offering personalized care to patients with complex allergic conditions.
