Dr. Milena Sokolowska leads the Department of Immune Metabolism at the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF), University of Zurich. She graduated in medicine in 2005 and earned her PhD in 2009, focusing on the genetics and immunology of severe asthma. She conducted postdoctoral research on the inflammasome and lipid signaling at the NIH, followed by studies on immune tolerance in allergy and asthma at SIAF.
Her research interests include immunometabolism, respiratory viruses, and the microbiome in the pathogenesis of allergic, autoimmune, and lung diseases.
She has published over 100 articles in top-tier journals such as Immunity, Nature Communications, and JACI, with an Hirsch index of 48 and a total of 12,352 citations.
Dr. Sokolowska is a member of the Executive Committee of EAACI and is actively involved in ERS and SSAI. Her research is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), NIH, and EAACI. She has received the EAACI PhARF Award and the Scopus Award for Young Researchers, is listed among the top 2% most cited researchers globally, and is included in the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers 2024 list.

Dr. Milena Sokolowska conduce Departamentul de Metabolism Imun la Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF), Universitatea din Zurich.
